Same-day flowers are a timing question before they are a flower question. Three things decide whether an arrangement lands today: the cutoff, the delivery window, and the address details you leave at checkout. This post covers all three, plus where we deliver and what a same-day order costs.

What is the cutoff for same-day flower delivery in Los Angeles?

The cutoff is 11 AM, Monday through Saturday. Order before it and your arrangement is designed that morning and delivered that afternoon. Order after it, or on a Sunday, and the order moves to the next delivery day automatically.

When will a same-day order actually arrive?

Same-day orders arrive in the 1 to 5 PM window, guaranteed. Deliveries run in two windows each day, 10 AM to 1 PM and 1 PM to 5 PM. Orders placed ahead of time can land in either one.

If the timing is tight, say so in the delivery notes. We plan the day's route in the morning, so an early instruction is easy to work around.

Why is the cutoff at 11 AM?

Because the flowers are bought and built the same morning they travel. I select stems before dawn at the Los Angeles Flower Market in the Downtown Flower District, where wholesale trading starts at 2 AM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The rest of the morning belongs to the work. Conditioning stems, building each arrangement by hand, and routing a run across the city take hours. The cutoff is simply where that has to begin to finish today.

We deliver to 30 neighborhoods across Los Angeles County, Monday through Saturday. The county holds 88 incorporated cities, so coverage is worth checking rather than assuming. A sample of the run:

What does made to order mean for a same-day arrangement?

It means nothing is pre-built and waiting in a cooler. Each order is composed by hand the morning it ships, then set in a permanent vessel our designer chooses to suit it. That vessel is meant to outlast the blooms.

Because stems are picked that morning, a flower in a photograph is occasionally not at its best. When that happens we substitute something of equal or greater quality in the same palette and scale. Every order travels with a hand-written note, never a printed card.

What should you add at checkout?

Add anything a driver would otherwise have to guess. The details that earn their keep:

• The recipient's phone number
• A gate code, buzzer name, or callbox listing
• The unit, suite, or floor
• The desk that signs at an office, hotel, or managed building

In six years at the bench I have watched more deliveries slowed by a missing gate code than by traffic.

Can you deliver same day to an office or a hotel?

Yes, and those addresses want one extra line. Give the recipient's name as the building knows it, the suite or room number, and the desk that receives. Century City towers, Downtown lobbies, and hotel concierge desks each work to their own procedure.

What happens if no one is home?

At a residence the courier leaves the arrangement in a safe, shaded spot and lets you know. At a building with a front desk, reception takes it in. Shade is the part that matters, because a Los Angeles doorstep stays warm long after noon.
